From the Editor
What an amazing day June 19th was.  It was a marvellous day, and the wonderful weather was obvious from the moment we started preparing the field at seven in the morning for the Country Crafts Fair. During the afternoon several thousand  people visited the field. Our grateful thanks go to Jane Moorey (and her assistant) together with everyone who contributed in any way.
Some of the first to arrive began congratulating Bob, and it then turned out that it had been announced in St Laurence church, during the service, that he had been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List. The citation in The Times reads: "chairman of the board Upminster Windmill Preservation Trust, services to conservation in Essex"
Bob has asked me to point out that he feels this is shared by the many people who have helped with the windmill in the past as well as the present. Many of the past ones are now long gone, but their efforts and memories of them have encouraged him. We ought to put up a list of all these past supporters from Ted Porch on.
Could those of you with memories of the supporters through the years before The Friends were formed please pass them on to Bob or me and we will make sure they are included.
